The palliAGED Introduction Modules for Aged Care provide a gateway to training and understanding in palliative care including symptoms and care issues.
The collection of 10 modules includes:
- Introduction to palliative care
- Self-care
- Person-centred care
- Talking about dying
- Recognising deterioration
- Palliative care case conferences
- End-of-Life care pathways
- Pain management
- Symptom management
- Care Issues.
Target audience
Nurses new to palliative care and/or aged care. Careworkers in aged care may also find some of these modules useful.

Allow approximately 30 minutes for Module 1. Allow approximately 15 minutes per module for all the other modules.

Comments
The modules do not have to be completed in a certain order.
These modules are based on the palliAGED Practice Tip Sheets for Nurses. A companion manual for these modules is also available. This provides communication tips and more detailed information about selected tools and processes referred to in the modules.
You can also download interactive versions of SPICT and SPICT-4ALL. These can be completed online or printed to complete by hand. There are also reflection questions within the modules.
Each module includes a voluntary survey to monitor the quality of this resource and to assist with further development of content to meet identified needs. This data may be used for research purposes.
