These pages provide practical things that those working in aged care can do in relation to each topic. They include options that a health professional or careworker can do in their practice as well as things they can learn or read.
The topics listed in the menu are supported or informed by the evidence. Each page is a companion page to a matching Evidence page in the Evidence Centre.
To assist with activity at both the individual and organisational levels, these sections include suggestions in response to the following prompts:
- What can I do?
- What can I learn?
- What can my organisation do?
What is appropriate and useful will depend on the care context and situation. For example, use of a syringe driver will depend on considerations including the availability of trained staff and equipment, and compatibility of the medications to be delivered. The most appropriate support for psychosocial care will depend on the context of care and needs of the older person and their family. For this reason, palliAGED provides access to resource and tool options without prescribing what should be used.
There is also a specific page for GPs listing support options.
